Instead of celebrating Kristin Smart's birthday on February 20th, the Smart family marked the 21st month of her disapperance, on May 25, 1996, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She was last seen walking to her dorm with Paul Flores.
The Smart case was inappropriately handled by the Cal Poly University Police. The department failed to initially investigate, letting trails grow cold. It was over a month before the campus police turned her case over to the local Sheriff's Department, but due to the initial lack of response by the Cal Poly police, little new evidence, which could have led to Kristin's whereabouts, was found. Both departments, however, blame each other for the failure.
The goal of the 21 Days campaign is to move the investigation to the neutral and highly qualified California State Department of Justice. You can show your support by placing one of the electronic ribbons on your homepage, and linking it to this page.
1. California Residents: Call or write California Attorney General Dan Lungren (The next Law and Order Governor of California??) or your state assembly person.
Tell them..
2. Post our logo on your web-page and link it to this page.

I am working on other versions of the ribbon graphic. They will include bordered, transparent, gray and white backgrounds, smaller versions, a black and white version, and a text-free version to be edited for your own use.

I will add your name to the following list of Supporting Pages
If you are not sure why you need to participate in the 21 days for Kristin Campaign think to yourself what it would be like if the person responsible for your child's disappearance hid behind the Fifth Amendment and refused to cooperate with law enforcement.
